Recurrent Swelling of the Parotid Glands

In the following paper a series of cases is described of recurrent swelling of the parotid gland of a type which hitherto has not been clearly recognized. Recurrent swelling, the result of infections of the gland or its ducts is well known as in the cases reported by Payne7 and Pyrah"'. In the eleven cases now to be described infection seems to play but a small part in the etiology of the condition, which differs in several features from the recurrent pyogenic parotitis of Payne.
